The Lisu Trail (Soft Adventure Trekking)

Sample itinerary - actual may vary

Day 01 Arrival, Putao
Upon arrival at Putao airport we will be met by Putao Trekking House's representative and transferred to our guest house. Putao lies in a flat valley, jumping-off point for trekkers who want to explore the region’s deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains etc. Putao town and fort was built during 1914-15 by Commissioner Mr. Hertz along with Fort which later known as Fort Hertz. Later a Missionary was travel from the south via Yunnan by ABM, leaded by Rev J.R Morse and leader of Assembly of God Rev J.C Morrison basing the Rawan and Lisu tribe as initial. Grapefruit, Washington Naval, Vlincha Orange, Ruby Oranges, King Orange and King Mandarin plus Maerica Lime were introduced by missionary from USA. By Father Robert Moss. After a brief fresh up take a walk around Putao for the orientation. Dinner and overnight at Putao Lodge.

Day 02 Putao – Namtunkoo
Early in the morning we visit Putao market often busy with local ethnic tribes. Return to hotel, breakfast and we transfer to a suburb village of Par Inn, where we set off our today destination at Namtunkoo Lisu village, situates west of Putao on the cross road to Mt. Lancrumadin (12 mile, approx. 5 hour). At first we walk through cultivation field passing some small villages and farm land. After about one hour walking on the flat land we will find ourselves immediately in wildness with lush tropical evergreen forests. About 3 hours trek through the terrain uphill we reach 2250 feet shoulder of Namhtun mountain range from where the path gently descends all the way. In a clear day we see blazing 11530 feet high Lancrumadin Mountain towards Indian border in the far west. We have lunch stop and continue trek another one more hour through the farm land to the village. Here we check in at our guest house and visit Namhtun creek, right in front of us for a fresh up. Later we explore the village and have social interact with friendly people. Dinner and overnight at Namhtun Guest House.

Day 03 Namtunkoo – Mulashidi – Namkham
Breakfast and we visit around the village for social and cultural interaction. Bit farewell to the locals and head to our today destination at Mulashidi (approx. 5 hour). First we walk about an hour through the field along Namhtun creek. After crossing the creek a couple of time we get in to the wildness the terrain immediate become deep up which leads up to 2295 feet. After a couple of hours through challenging trail filled with bamboo grove the trek gradually descend through farm land from where we enjoy a spectacular view of the Putao plain with snake like crawling Mula creek. We have lunch stop and further a couple of hour easy trek to arrive at Mulashidi village. Here we meet our driver and visit the village admiring the beautiful surrounding often back drop with snowcapped mountains in distance. From here we transfer to Machanbaw from where we board on a local fishermen boat for our upriver journey along Malikha River (approx. 40 minutes) to Namkham, a large Rawan village, situates at the bottom of Namhti mountain range, rich in biodiversity of flora and fauna. Name after Hkamti Shan name meaning “Golden River” has become the center of cultivation place for the fruits that Father Robert Moss has introduced thus today famous for its sweet fruits production. We settle in at our guest house and visit Malikha River for a swim, which probably be a highlight for the day. Dinner and overnight at Namkham Guest House.

Day 04 Namkham - Kanugmulone – Pansat
Breakfast and we head toward north to Pansat, located at 1312 feet above sea (12 mile, approx. 6 hour). At first we pass small village of Trandum to get to Kaungmulone Pagoda site, said to be one of the 84000 pagodas built by Thiri Dhamma Thawka, the great king. From here we trek through passing Ngwa Saga, Nam Buyan, Zu Ka and Mano crossing several suspension bridges we arrive our today destination at Pansat. Pansat, predominantly Rawan villages parched by the Malikha River under beautiful Namhti Mountain range. Dinner and overnight at local home.

Day 05 Pansat – Nam Ma – Htondum - Htonhtu
Breakfast and we trek towards out today destination at Htonhtu, across Mali Creek (8 mile, approx. 5 hour). After an hour trek we get to a cattle farm where we could learn how wild ox are tame here. Once we pass the farm our trail goes right in to the wildness forest trail getting deeper in to primary forests where we encounter lush tropical rain forests, creeps and various species of rattan vine. After good 3 hour trek in to the wildness we get to Nam Ma, located at 1378 feet about sea. After a bout two and half mile gentle we get to Htondum where we get a dugout cross Maki creek to sister village of Htonhtu, located at 1378 feet above sea. Here we find shapes of stone that has been dragged by the torrent from the watershed up in the mountains. After wear and tear the pebble form all kind of shapes from a simple round, oval to the shape of animal and other staff like shoes, hat etc. Htonhtu, a primarily Rawan tribe village is located at the bank of Mali creek, which later form as Malikha River after joining Sati and Namar creeks. Dinner and overnight at local home. We walk around the village and have social interaction while our crew set up our accommodation and meal. Dinner and overnight at local home.

Day 06 Htonhtu - Malirain
Though we are at the vest plain of Putao valley we enjoy a fantastic view of the snow-capped mountains towards us. Breakfast and we head north toward Mt. Madoi to Malirain, located at 1522 feet above sea at the bottom of Madoi mountain range (5 mile, approx. 2˝ hour). At first we trek through scarf forest but soon the plain opens up and we find ourselves walking in the open land. As we draw nearer the view become clearer and trek get enjoyable despite of the fact that we walk o absolute flat surface. Malirain is another northern frontier settlement here as beyond this point there is no human inhabitant. We have a relaxing afternoon in this amicable village. Dinner and overnight at local home.

Day 07 Malirain – Mansakun - Putao
We enjoy another round of fantastic view of the mountain. Breakfast and we head down south to Mansakun, located at 1378 feet above sea (7 mile, approx. 4 hour). As we trek we keep Madoi mountain range towering above us at the right until we get to Mansakun. On the way we pass through village like Stilaw number 2 and Stilaw number 1 and finally we reach at Mansakun. Lunch stop and we turn south and continue trek about two hour to Mansay Mountain where we meet our driver and travel back to Putao (10 mile, approx. one hour). Dinner and overnight at Putao Lodge.

Day 08 Departure
Breakfast and perhaps another visit to the market and further visit in and around Putao with suggestion by our guide. Lunch and afternoon transfer to airport for your onward departure flight to conclude this unique experience.
